International Foundation
for Benzodiazepine Addiction
Research, Re-education & Recovery

Unfortunately no such organisation exists as yet.

A few people have suggested to me that the time is now right to establish just such an organisation. But how can this come about? Clearly some aims and objectives should be:

  1. To raise public awareness about the dangers of benzodiazepine tranquillisers by telling the truth to the world.

  2. To re-educate physicians and healthcare workers about long-term prescribing consequences.

  3. To secure funding for research into long term damage caused by benzodiazepines.

  4. To secure financial support for patient withdrawal groups, clinics, advice & residential treatment centres. [Millions of people around the world are hopelessly trapped by involuntary addiction to these drugs. Dedicated residential centres are desperately needed. By and large the recovery process from the withdrawal syndrome is far, far longer than for any other kind of addictive drug too and only specialist withdrawal clinics / support groups can truly cater for those wishing to end their addiction to benzodiazepine tranquillisers.]

  5. To lobby for a public enquiries into medically induced tranquilliser addiction.

  6. To secure (no fault) financial compensation for personal injury caused by iatrogenic tranquilliser addiction.

  7. To urge the reclassification of benzodiazepines as Class A drugs like heroin, cocaine and methadone.

  8. To inform and support those involved in helping drug addicts who use benzos as part of the street drugs scene.
